During our first tasting we sampled 8 wines. We first tasted and rated 4 Cabernet
Sauvignons from Napa, California: 1999 Merryvale, 1994 Joseph Phelphs,
1997 Chateau Montelena Estate Grown and a 1994 Lolonis.
We then tasted and rated four Bordeaux's
from the left bank which are made primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon.
These were a 2000 Chateau Frank Phelan (St.
Estephe), 2000 Chateau Lynch-Moussas (Pauillac), 1999 Chateau Amiral de
Beychevelle (St. Julien), 2002 Chateau Du Tertre (Margaux). We rated each wine on its appearance, aroma, body, taste and finish. For each characteristic every person assigned a 0 to 5 score. These were then totaled for each person and for us as a group. And yes...this was a blind tasting. Here are the aggregate ratings.
